silverfish is a small, wingless insect typically measuring from a half to one inch (12鈥?5 mm). Its common name derives from the animal's silvery blue color, combined with the fish-like appearance of its movements, while the scientific name indicates the silverfish's diet of carbohydrates such as sugar or starches. It belongs to the basal insect order Thysanura, and the species is estimated to have existed for over 300 million years, originating in the Paleozoic Era. Often misidentified as a silverfish is the house centipede, another house-dwelling arthropod that exhibits rapid, fluid movement.

silver fish, unfortunately they can live behind the tiles on the walls if there is any dampness there. So check grouting etc after you have had a good clean round with bleach etc.
Sal is correct but be assured that they are not harmful.

They like warm damp areas, not necessarily dirty ones.

Put a window fan in or open a window to keep the moisture down.

Make sure that there are no leaking pipes or they will never go away.

If they are silver fish, and it sounds like it - you need to give your bathroom a dammed good clean. They thrive on damp spots and love things like spilled shampoo and soap. Have a good clean round and put all bottles and things into either plastic containers or baskets and keep them in them.
