It may not have unclogged it completely just a small hole in the plug. Hair %26lt;try brushing before bathing%26gt; is an evil culprit, so is soap. Do you know what type of pipes you have? If they are PVC you can pour bleach down the drain, will dissolve the hair and soap and much cheaper than Drano. I leave mine overnight but if you have metal pipes it is not good to do from what I hear. Afterwards run really hot water. After water drains pour vinegar and baking soda %26lt;it is going to foam%26gt; once a week for a while %26lt;both ingredients are cheap%26gt; If it stays unclogged you can go to once a month treatments. drain-o...or reach your hand down the drain and pull out whatever is in there. he is probably ';freaking at you'; because you have longer hair than him and I always had to pull out my long hair from the drain cause it would always clog up on me. nasty but it works.
Heres the answer ,where the lever is to toggle between the spigot and the shower . there is two screws holding that plate on with the lever undo those two screws and pull out the plate, there will be a ong rod attached to it with a amall cup/drum/ stopper attached to it , and it will be filled with hair or what ever. clean it up and replace down the hole , where u got it from and ur all set good luck
get some thick bleach or something to put down the plug hole to unblock it.
Get a wire coat hanger and make a little hook on the end of it and dig all of your hair out.
Go buy foam drano for like 4$, Target freds ect. Foam and gel 2-1 won't eat away at the pipes. We had a plumber come out once that put a snake (tool lol) up the over flow thing to un clear it. Or try a Zip thing it white costs like 2.96 at home depot that's only if it's like hair. If it's hair get a STRAINER thing for it. Ours cost .96 cents from walmartt. we had a different one that we thought cought hair but when we got this we it caught like 10 times more NOT JOKING or exsaderating. Target used to have a great genaric drano that worked the better then the more expensive stuff. They don't carrey it at ours though but check on that.

Why doesn't he use a 5 gallon bucket and one of those syphon hose vacuums to clean around the rocks, he really shouldn't handle the fish.
That wouldn't hurt the fish as long as there is no chemical cleaner left in the bath. also, aren't you supposed to leave an amount of the dirty water in the tank before you fill it back up? The other thing is, when the tank is full it should be left to stand for several hours, fresh tap water has chlorine and fluoride in it and he needs to give it chance to 'breath' before putting the fish back in.
No. He shouldn't be doing a full 100% water change in the first place. Moving the fish stresses them out and that opens the door for other health problems. If the tank is cycled, he should only change NO MORE THAN 30% per week.
On a normal clean the fish shouldn't leave the tank, only like a 10-20% water change is required, best done with a gravel cleaner, and then clean the glass or do any gardening while the waters low. Then refill it and add stress zime (or watever dechlorinator you use). During this clean the filter too.


Any soap residue could kill the fish, also the stress and shock of being caught does them no favours at all.

I haven't yet, but i plan to do so. I've had quite a lot of pain lately, im 33 nearly 34 weeks. I realised that bathing helps the pain i get into, so hopefully by having a water birth i will help myself with the pain!Also, i was scared by the look of the delivery room. :) It basically involves you either being in the water throughout the contractions, or the birth, or both. I plan to stay in the water untill hes out, and i think its great. The only thing is your pain relief is limited, i think you can only have gas and air..

Hi - if you have access to the U-trap - I would suggest open the cap and be ready to get drenched - keep a bowl handy to catch all the water and hopefully the battery would be in there.





If you dont have an access to the U-trap then I would suggest you to use a wet-dry vacuum cleaner and try to suck it out of the drain.

At the moment a shower only cause i'm nearly eight months pregnant and it is way too much effort to move around in the bath plus i'm quite tall and our bath isn't long enough. Love standing under the shower and having the hot water run down my sore back, could stand there all day but alas i don't, low on water down our way, bummer. ; )

on the back of your tub is the lever that runs your tub drain stopper. with your tub stopper down remove the two screws that hold the stopper lever onto the tub. carefully pull the hole assembly up and toward you. some assemblies have a large spring type coil on the end. if that is what you have it will be full of hair,etc.. unwind the hair,etc. off back wards. this should take care of the problem. if this is what you have, pull out the stopper and run hot water down the drain 4 a couple of minutes. this will loosen up any sludge left in there. if the assembly you take out doesn't have the spring shaped end, then you will have to run your snake down the opening you took the assembly out of. make sure when you put it back together that the stopper handle is in the down position before you put the stopper in. if it isn't the stopper won't work right.
It has a clog someplace down the drain, I suggest going to a plumbing store and getting a snake and trying to release the clog yourself.I have done it before and it works really well. Then if its still clogged call a plumber. Good luck and have a nice labor day weekend!

At the moment a shower only cause i'm nearly eight months pregnant and it is way too much effort to move around in the bath plus i'm quite tall and our bath isn't long enough. Love standing under the shower and having the hot water run down my sore back, could stand there all day but alas i don't, low on water down our way, bummer. ; )

Cleaning bath tub stains?

I've been living in an older apartment building for a while now and the stains at the bottom of my bath tub are really starting to bug me!





It's from a bath mat that you would put at the bottom of the tub to prevent slipping. Dirt must have gotten underneath and then stained the tub.





I've tried scrubbing with soap, and bleach but neither has worked. Does anybody know something that would get these stains out of my tub?





I think it's a plastic tub if that helps any.

There are three things I would try.





1. Car cleaner and polisher. It is mild and won't scratch the plastic. Lots of elbow grease.





2. Soft Scrub Deep Clean Foaming Cleanser, brand. That sprays on and cleans like crazy. Leave it on for a few minutes and then use a sponge to clean and then rinse off. Hardly any elbow grease, but I've used it on plastic, stainless steel, teflon and it works great. Won't scratch the plastic. Don't let it dry out.





3. Soft Scrub with Bleach, brand. It cleans and doesn't scratch either, You can leave this on for awhile after you apply it with a sponge to let the bleach work and then wash it off. Some elbow grease required. Don't let it dry out.Cleaning bath tub stains?
I use a product called ';The Works'; that I usually find at Acme or Ace Hardware. Think it's about $6 a spray bottle but it really works on hard water %26amp; rust stains. Usually don't even have to scrub. Just give a good soaking and let set 1/2 hour or so. Repeat if necessary. Be sure to keep a window open or if there is no window, keep the door open and a fan going. Leave if the fumes get too bad, which they can. Test it first on a small corner; not sure about how it will react with plastic. Good Luck!

2.To remove grime, mildew, and scum from the tub, tile, shower curtain or door, wipe with undiluted white distilled vinegar. Rinse with water.

We normally use Kaldewei (steel) or Bette (also steel) which comes with a flat, rather than rolled rim, which you cut the stone to fit on the top. For greater support you can use a regular flat flange - and if you overhang the stone, you don't see the rim on the outside.Undermount bath tub....?
I am not absolutely sure what an undermount bath is, however if it is a sunken bath, and you have children, be very careful, as there is a real danger of them falling in.


In the past I have removed several installations that were sunken.
Kohlor makes an undermount tub, and you use stone or other surface to finish off the inside edge. It is not a cheap product and the labor on the stone-work is costly. We have done lots of them and they are very good looking.
I have sen under mount sinks and I have seen cement tubs. But I have never seen or heard of an under mount tub.

Single handle faucets do not have seats or stems or washers, thats kind of the whole point of making them single handle. But to answer your question specifically, either two things have happened.


1. your stem broke inside the valve.


2. your plastic ';guide bracket'; behind the handle broke. or is improperly installed.


here's how to find out. turn off the water to house.


take the handle off the faucet. youre going to need a small allen or hex head wrench or a tiny flat head screwdriver. the ';set screw'; holds the handle over the valve stem securely by a small screw.


once that is removed, turn the water back on and see if you can get it to the ';off'; position. if you cant, turn off water again. remove the cartridge from the center of your valve, take it to supply house (with water still off) match it up, bring home and replace, turn water on, make sure it shuts off, then put handle back on.
Most likely the nut on the back of the valve stem has come off.


This is common on Mixit brand valves. You can get a replacement stem and handles at Home depot (they are cheaper than Lowes on this part) for around 10 dollars.


Follow the instructions, easy to do. good luck.

All of the home supply stores have replacement parts for faucets. Take apart the faucet and take it to the store. Get all new washers, seats, gaskets, and any other rubber parts. Replace everything and put back together.
remove the handle or take a picture of it and take it to your local plumbing supply house for identification.

all drains need a clear and working vent. check for a vent in the drain system if you have one make sure it is unobstructed if you don't have one you need to call a good plumber or handyman to remedy this.
Not sure what you mean by Drano snake, but it sounds like you have a hair build-up in your drain. Try straightening a metal hanger out, put a slight bend in the end, and run that down into your drain and see if you can hook the hair ball and pull it out. May take several tugs to get it all out.


Typically drain cleaners don't do a good job at dissolving the hair unless it stops up completely.
At this point, you need a plumber!
Hi. Here's the best solution. You obviously have a slow drain, and it's 99% likely that it's a hair clog that's either in an awkward position or is of a larger size than the over-the-counter drain chemicals can effectively remove. Despite their claims, the chemical-type cleaners work best on grease-related clogs and aren't as good on hair.





My advice is to call a plumber or your local Roto-Rooter type business and have them use an actual drain snake. You can also go to your local hardware store or equipment rental center and rent one, if you want to do it yourself. Chemicals aren't the answer here; you need to physically ream out the pipe.

In most older homes, really a lot older the pipes that were put in were much smaller than the ones they use today. I hate to say this but you may need new plumbing pipes. I hope you know someone who does this work because it can be very expensive. I don't think it could be hair or a clog because if you've used all those things already there is nothing you can do. Are you on a well or city water? Sometimes a well can get full and backup. But if none of your other water implements are backing up, I'd say it's the pipes.





Also I had a friend that had the same problem but her problem was caused from the sink in the bathroom, even though the sink wasn't clogged the bathtub would hold water. The plumber put cleaner down her sink and it unclogged the bathtub. Sounds crazy but that's what the plumber told her and showed her and the problem was fixed.

There are different models. Some are heated and others are not, they just provide whirlpool action. It all depends on the model you have.





If you do not have a manual, try a google searcl for the brand and model you have. Often a manufacturer will post operation manuals on their websites.

I have a Jacuzzi brand tub (corner style) that has a heating element. It is less than two years old though so it might be different. I bought it at Lowe's and I think it has a reset button on the heater. (I can't find my manual)


If you have an access panel just remove it and look on the heater. It shouldn't be a big deal. If there isn't a small acess panel then the larger panel should be removable.

Actually swimming with goldfish is fun. When I was a kid the neighborhood pool had a big 4th of July party every year and one of the activities was they would throw hundreds of goldfish in the pool and we would have to go in and catch them. Also, If you've ever gotten food coloring on yourself during a project, you'd see it does indeed stain skin. Not forever, but it does stain. If you were to put it in your bath, you would certainly come out blue where ever the water was touching your skin.





Do you want to be blue? Or did you just want the water to be blue. There are many bath salt type products, you can find them at Wal-mart even. (I dont know the name of a specific product) that will stain your water blue, without leaving the tub and your skin blue.

your going to have to shut off the main valve. then remove the stem on the faucet thats leaking and replace the seat and the seal.

Pop the battery and the sim card and mop up any moisture with paper towels or tissue. Put it in a warm dry place (the airing cupboard) for 48 hrs before re-assembling it and trying it again. My daughter was great at sending phones scuba diving (her best effort was a pint of lager) and we had some success with the above method. Unfortunately even if the phone does work initially it can fall foul of corrosion at a later date.

It is called a clawfoot tub. Have no experience installing them, however!
Clawfoot tub. They are HEAVY, but that's the original's. People in my area have used them for fishtanks, and to feed stock,(cattle,horses, etc.)! An average clawfoot is about five feet long, 31 inches wide, and 19 inches deep,(19 inches: actual area inside, not total, from one of the feet to the rim). This is in a house probably built in 1906, or so. I re-did the porcelian with a kit from Lowe's, and gasped at their prices for clawfoot tubs! You could find an original, in good to excellent shape for $500.00, or less here,(run into a farmer, who has one in an old house, and get it for a lot less! LOL!) I'm not much for relaxing in a bath, busy schedule dictates using the shower,(Chrome support ring, suspended by two thin chrome threaded rods from ceiling, shower curtain wraps around the support ring). It's a very basic hookup, two chrome pipes come out of the floor, with 'beauty rings' around them for the hot, and cold water, and a larger chrome pipe, for the drain. I suggest at least six inches of clearance around the tub, on the end, and side that you will not enter. For those who like to soak in a tub, this is for you! If whirlpool jets enter the equation, you're in heaven,(or pretty close! LOL!) As for expensive to install, whew! Depends on your area, whether or not you have removed the original tub, and have the area 'prepped', how hard it is to remove original tub, and to bring in the new one,(is it going upstairs?)

Resurfaced bath tub and vanity question?

I had my bath tub and vanity (counter/sink as one) resurfaced as the original surfaces were completely unusable due to cracking/pitting, etc.





The only problem I am having is that this surface is not very ';slick'; like normal sinks and bath tubs are and there is ALWAYS residual hairs, etc left in the sink/tub.

I used to work for a refinisher. The finish should be just like a new unit, if not better, and certainly there should not be any ';hairs'; left (by this, I'm assuming you mean small lines in the surface and not actual hair). Some tubs are refinished and a ';non-slip'; finish is put on the bottom (kind of like an orange peel look), and this should be shiny as well. I'm not sure what happened in your units, and I would call the (hopefully) licensed, refinisher back. If it is a reputable company, they will come out and fix it. Good luck - LT

mmerobin has a good answer. if you use a snake don't run it down the drain. it could catch on the stopper. remove the plate just above the tub drain, it probably has the stopper on it, just take your time. run your snake down the opening, its a more direct run to the main drain pipe. please take your time electric snakes are strong and can damage the pipes and yourself if you force it or go to fast.
sounds like a clog, you can use a commercial drain opener or try a cup of baking soda, followed by a cup of vinegar down the drain, let that foaming solution work for 1/2 hour and flush it with 1/2 to a gallon of boiling water. It worked for me
another possibility is that if you have a house over 75years old you may have galvanized pipes which corrode from the inside and close themselves off.

YES! The Magic Eraser works wonders on that grayish looking stuff on the floors of the shower! I had tried everything, bleach, scrubbing, etc and nothing worked. Then I tried the Magic Eraser and it was amazing! You should try it, you'll be so surprised!!Cleaning the bath tub w/ a Magic Eraser?
Yes, it does work to get all that off, although beware as it is not good for disinfecting, deodorizing, and cleaning.





To disinfect, clean, and deodorize I would still also keep using your Comet and elbow grease, the comet will kill the germs, while the Magic Eraser just makes it look clean :)



They do an amazing job, really. Totally worth the cost. Usually when I move into a new place it's so grimy I have to use the Magic Eraser to get it clean the first time, and then I keep on top of it with regular washing. It makes everything look new.
Magic Erasers are amazing. I do housekeeping on college restrooms every once in a while, and nothing gets the tough spots like a Magic Eraser.

Put Vaseline around your hair line because that doesn't let henna or any hair dye stain your skin because it's so greasy it won't allow it.





You could maybe put Vaseline all over your face but that might be risky cause you could get pimples afterwards, so sticking to the hairline would be a better option, I do that and I'm acne prone but it doesn't affect me near the hairline. Just don't get it on your hair or the henna won't be absorbed.





Also, maybe you mum or your friend could help you lean back into the tub and they could use a hand shower to wash away the henna like they do at the salon so it doesn't go all over your face.

As long as you aren't in the bathtub you will be fine. just put your head under the faucet and wash it out like that. if you are really worried, you can just be careful to keep the dyed water out of your face.


once you have rinsed it all out, take a shower and wash your hair.

That is typical of a cat! I had a cat that did the same sort of thing, what I did was to purchase a fountain drinking system. The cat loved it but also bathed in it as well.
Thats funny my cat do that too but when you catch them they run!!!! We just started to close the bathroom door and they forgot all about it!!!

I have a cat that does something similar, especially if the bathtub is still real wet after a bath or shower. I always interpreted it as her showing just how daring and brave she is--jumping into a tub that at any time could suddenly have water all over the place! My cat doesn't necessarily want the tap turned on (sometimes she'll drink and usually it's more like biting the water, more often she ignores the tap and just wants to walk around in the wetness or just in the dry tub), she just seems to like to show me that she may be little but she's got guts (sort of like those folks who will lie down in the middle of a highway when it's basically deserted in the middle of the night but during the day is buzzing with traffic).
We have 5 cats, and they wouldn't have it any other way. We keep the tub running at a low drip/stream level. All but one drinks from it.





They also use the water dish when they are really thirsty, but they get so much enjoyment out of the running water. Typically, they will be so proud and walk over to us.. rubbing their wet heads on us. :)





I don't care what my water bill is, if it makes them that happy.. I'm all for it.
Well cats have fur and when its hot they like to sit somewhere cool like the tiles in the bathroom or the bath tub.Dont worry she is cooling herself.

My cat prefers drinking from the faucet. When he is thirsty he will jump into the tub and miau until I come and turn it on just a trickle. Then he drinks his fill and leaves. If I were you I would try giving my cat fresher water, or, if you can afford it, one of those fountain drinking dishes that circulate the water all the time.

I've had several cats over the years, but never experienced one like yours. I had a few that liked too sleep in the bathroom sink, but they never looked guilty when you caught them. I had a kitten who was very curious about the bathtub and would jump up on the edge when I was in it. she finally jumped in one time, seemed very surprised but not upset. Later on I took her to my parents house who had a pool. Put her in and she loved it! She could swim real good too!


As for your cat....Did you scold her when you caught her? Is she allowed to do this? That would be the only reason I could think of. Unless ....

I have seven cats and four kittens and my cats love to drink running water. They always have a supply of water but they choose to sit and the tap and meow till i turn the tap on... my cats prefer running water maybe thats your cats problem..... or maybe she wants to take a swim ;)
