Bath Tub Grounded?

It's simple curiosity... But is it true that bath tubs (in the UK at least) are all grounded to an earth wire? What for? Does that mean that if some one was to drop electric equipment (say a portable TV) in the bath this would prevent any electrocution?

Thanx :PBath Tub Grounded?
No, tubs are not grounded.

When you are hit by lightning you are grounded, but it is the lightning passing through you that kills you.

Same happens when you become a conductor between your blow drier and your filled tub.

All modern wiring now requires ground fault interrupters at bath and kitchen outlets to stop this from happening.Bath Tub Grounded?
I'm not sure why that would be in the U.K., but grounding the tub will not save you if you're in it when the TV hits the water. In the U.S. grounding is to the cold water pipel
