Is there a such thing as a ';bath tub'; type thing that breaks up kidney stones?

is there a bath that hospitals use for patients to sit in to get rid of kidney stones that are lodged in the kidneyIs there a such thing as a ';bath tub'; type thing that breaks up kidney stones?
Its called extracoporeal shockwave lithotripsy, and is usually done under mild sedation.

There is a newer version where the patient lies on a special bed with a silicon ring in the middle that is filled with water, and the shockwaves are delivered through that. It is more powerful than the bath tub, so the patients are put completely out with general anaesthesia.

Both types may take more than one treatment to completely break up stones - depends on size and composition of the stone. Is there a such thing as a ';bath tub'; type thing that breaks up kidney stones?
Yes--it is called lithotripsy by ultrasonic wave. It is not painful. The sound waves travel through the water and then through the body tissues to ';break up'; the stones with sound waves. The stone fragments then pass through the urinary tract in the urine to the outside of the body. That part is sometimes, but not always, a little painful.
I believe there was a device which I saw on television a while ago where you sit in a bath-tub like device and ultra-sonic ';shockwaves'; are sent into the bath to target kidney stones (or was that gall-stones?) and break them up into smaller bits (which are more easily passed)
