Dropped batteries (2 AA) in bath tub, fell in drain pipe. can this plug up the pipe?

good heavens yes. can corrode the pipes too.

under every drain is a section of pipe called a u-bend, or trap. it's that funny shape you always see the pipe make under the sink. its purpose is to trap a little bit of water so that gases from the sewage system don't come up into your house.

drop an object down the drain, and if it's too heavy for water to push through that bend, it's going to sink to the bottom of the bend, lodge there, and become a catch-all for other objects that will eventually form a blockage in your sink.

because these are batteries, it gets worse lol. eventually (sooner than usual because of the exposure to water etc), their protective shells will break down and the corrosive chemicals inside will leak out. this will have two effects: the chemicals will corrode your pipes, meaning expensive repairs down the line; and the chemicals will poison the water-- which won't affect you since that water is leaving your house, but it will play hell on the environment.

get a do-it-yourself book on how to remove the u-bend pipe so you can get the batteries out, or find a handy friend (or, heaven forbid, hire a plumber) to do it for you.Dropped batteries (2 AA) in bath tub, fell in drain pipe. can this plug up the pipe?
Hi - if you have access to the U-trap - I would suggest open the cap and be ready to get drenched - keep a bowl handy to catch all the water and hopefully the battery would be in there.

If you dont have an access to the U-trap then I would suggest you to use a wet-dry vacuum cleaner and try to suck it out of the drain.

Hey also I would suggest - not to play with toys in the bath tub - lol - wink winkDropped batteries (2 AA) in bath tub, fell in drain pipe. can this plug up the pipe?
yes it can but it also cant it depends how big a pipe and how they fell but i suggest you take a magnet super glue it 2 sum string and drop it down the pipe
Sure they can.
