Brown slimy film in bath tub?

We just moved into this rental house. We agreed to do the cleaning ourselves before moving in, and the landlord would give us two months free rent.

The bath tub looks like it has never been cleaned. There is a brown slimy film and I have tried to bleach it out, and use mean green. It is still there! Today we are soaking it in an all natural bathroom cleaner hoping that will work. Any ideas on what else i should do?Brown slimy film in bath tub?

Sounds like an iron stain, do you have well water? Bleach will not take out an iron stain. If the tub is supposed to be white, you can use Zud, it is a powder and will remove rust stains with a lot of scrubbing. Or you can try Iron out, follow the instructions on the bottle. Be sure you can open a window. It stinks! But effective. Whink is a liquid and is also good to remove rust stains. Both can be bought at Walmart.
I would start with Simple Green and then try Soft Scrub with bleach. I think you need to get the slime off first, and then back it up with bleach. Good luck.
