I just gave my dog a bath and she slipped in the tub and fell under the water which was about 2 inches deep.?

When she slipped, her head went completely under the water. I think she got water in her ears because she is kind of shaking her head and keeps rubbing at her ears. I have a vet appointment on January 2, and today is the 28. Usually they are able to shake the water out of their ears. You can put just a couple drops of rubbing alcohol in each ear to absorb the water.





When you go to your appointment in January, make sure the vet takes a look in her ears to make sure they are not irritated or infected.

Dogs jump in deeper water than that all the time! Sometimes they get water in their ears and it bugs them for a while, but they either work it out eventually or it dries out itself. Think about it...no one is gently toweling the ears of all those wild dogs out there and they're doing just fine.
She'll probably be ok and you have an appt Jan.2 anyway, so she can be checked then should any infection have started up. She will shake or dig at her head because she hears the water on/around the ear drum just like we do when we get water in our ears. More than likely, it will dribble out on its own, but in the meantime, gently dry her external ear area with clean thin cloth to prevent further moisture from going in.
a few drops of rubbing alcohol will help to dry it out. But best to leave her be as she will work it out.
She'll be fine. It'll dry out on its own. Think about it - dogs'll take a run and jump into a lake in the wild. I'm sure she'll cope with 2 inches of water. If it makes you feel better, spoil her a little. Sure she won't mind ;-)
take a towel and rub it in her ear causing a suction. dont shake to hard. you could even try to massage it on the base. but im sure shell shake it out but try something to help relieve her. if nothing else and you are still worried go to ask.com or another vet sight. sorry
Use a cotton ball with a bit or alcohol and rub in the ear. It will probably leak out eventually.
Hold a cotton ball over the hole in her ear and gently tip her towards it. Otherwise she will be okay till the 2nd just make sure you tell the vet to check and make sure no infections are brewing.
Make a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water. Put it in a squirt bottle and fill up the dog's ear canal (warm it up first). Rub the ear canal and then let the dog shake its head. I use this weekly for my dogs with floppy ears.

If you are worried, get a cotton swab and gently rub inside the ear and see if it helps.





She will be fine. I'm sure.
